Play is the Best Way to Teach, Learn and Retain what is taught..

 Long back when I was teaching... and was Admin for an online course in Banking... the LMS course designed by the HR and experts in Banking used Games to teach the Importance of Being Cautious with money belonging to Bank's customers...

The course work had interspaces where games, cartoons and fun facts were inserted with interesting formats...

This method put the Onus of teaching on the Design of the course...

The entire coursework was designed to capture and hold a student's interest...

I was consulted just once about a Doubt... the coursework very adroitly Supplanted the need of a Professor...

That LMS course had me researching into various free courses offered by the industry and I started reading about... academia and industry interface...

It showed me the potential of online courses and I saw a potential for reducing the cost of academics by adding such courses as electives

Additionally such courses reduced TAT is the turn around time needed for students who are employed soon after College...

The training time needed for students who had completed courses provided by the industry tends to be negligible...

Employability of graduates increases with the addition of industry academia interface programs and unemployment of graduates reduces...

The bottom line is Games and Play being the Best Way to Teach students at All Levels right upto the PG level...

Few times a month I would use the Game CDs to give my regular BCom students a break from Regular lectures and would use the Games to cover topics with a fun method... during such classes... the entire class would participate as it was a Unique approach to teaching at the Undergraduate level...

Designing coursework to Retain the interest of the students also helps with improving the Dropout rate...

The LMS course proved one thing... Play is the Best Way to Teach, Learn and Retain what was taught...

7 th November 2020 ... musings during my trip to Talegaon ...

 today during my trip to Talegaon ... i saw soooo many restaurants shut down and abandoned for Good ...So Very Tragic the current economic situation is ... We have a Major Poverty Pandemic looming over us ... so many dhabbas and way side food stalls have been Wiped Out Forever

what should have been a summer and monsoon season full of visitors ...just did not happen and even Big Restaurant Chains have buckled ....so do we need to wonder how a poor road side food vendor just Disappeared ...

the Organised Restaurant Industry has Zero Safety Nets ....so the unorganised food industry dying is no body's concern ... no

i Dread to think what must have become of those families Dependent on the Unorganised Food Industry ...

this pandemic has been a Tsunami ...killing and taking lives and Devastating sooooo many industries

it sickens me to see governments Wasting Time discussing about War

China has not been as badly affected ...economically speaking ...so what should people do when they are well off ....

Help those Worse Off

Each of China's neighbours is facing Devastating times economically speaking

for once i hope ...China sees how Lucky it is and learns to Behave

stop Archaic ideas like Gulags and let it's Citizens Breathe and then maybe it could enter and sustain a Truly Epic Boom Phase ...

and Globally ....industries should be coming together and collaborating and learning and sharing methods to Pull Through these Tough Times ...

i would love to see what Biden does for the Starving People of Yemen ....

 And Yes ….in my case ….my child is the Father of his mom ….he wanted me to go to the bank with him and change the setting of his account ….from minor to major ...now that he is 18 and change the YT payments to his account …. it has been pouring cats and dogs most days and I kept forgetting to go to the bank

Last week he started a new account with DBS the bank from Singapore and so easily he finished the KYC and other requirements of the account from Home...and today he got his Debit card for No extra charge ...

Public Sector Banks are going to go on Strike during Durga Puja days in India …..to strike about the Round of Mergers and Acquisitions going on in the Public Sector ….

Not a Single bank in India ...either Private or Public can Match Up to a Foreign Bank like DBS …

Trade and Economics does Away with Borders and Definitely will be making this world a Global Village …

from my clan ….my Paternal Grandfather is my kids Hero ….my paternal grandfather had Fishing Boats and Saw Mills and Shops and Farms and he owned a lot of land too …. he was also an Indigenous Banker ...

my kids want to go Beyond where their Maternal Great Grandfather went ….and one thing I know about my elder child ….

his Why in life is Very Sorted....and I know he will find his How too …. by himself ….

Every school he went to I was called Often to school with complaints about my child ….. finally I pulled him out of the Schooling System ..he Settled Down as a child and became Responsible and Sober and the Rebellion for the sake of It went out and Focus got Better

I Always Recommend Homeschooling …. sometimes we sit and discuss stuff late at night ….. I talk to them and teach them when They Feel in the mood to learn ….. I Quit Flogging the Horse long back …. I believe in ...Waiting for the Horse to Want to Drink Water ...

as the saying goes ...

you can lead the horse to the water's edge but it is up to the Horse to Want to Drink the water ….

and I believe in giving kids a break and letting them go a bit behind their peers if need be too …

Once the time is Right …. the Child will Start Learning and will Definitely be Learning Lifelong …

never force a child to do anything

wait and give them breathing space

they always will end up doing your bidding willingly

and that is the Most Important thing

Willingness to study and learn

and then keeping their curiosity alive is a cakewalk ….

My Cup Runneth Over today …..my elder brat Refused to do a Section on Statistics during his 10th grade Board exam prep ….I did not force him ...he Abhorred Economics and walked out of the exam 45 minutes early ...he wrote only for 2 hours and 15 minutes …..I was Sooooooooooo Sure that he would Fail in Economics …. I did not even ask him as to what he wrote and he went through his paper and said that he will get around 45 and I was Beyond Thrilled when he passed ….he had got an iPhone as a gift Before the results were declared and I was Dreading a Verbal Showdown from his father ….If he failed his 10th Board exams
Phewwwwwwww is how I exclaimed when he passed his exams ….
and cut to last month My Elder Import from Mars downloads some App called Alligator or something to learn to Trade ...online trading is Risky business ….tried getting into it in 2011 and then Quit ….toooo many areas to keep track of and of course The Risk involved ...plus it is a Highly Technical field

today when my kids started off about the Rothschild and Federal banks ...I took this text book of economics and made them read about Banking and Credit Creation and Money and Banking and the Role of Central Banks
they do not believe me and unlike when I Question them about pwdpi and LP & JP …& KSI or whoever and their Shenanigans ….my kids tell me....Mumma do Not Believe the Media about such stories ….the media hates YTbers and the fame the big names on YT have and that the media is the Most Manipulative medium on planet Earth ...
and this very media when it puts forth an article about Federal Banks ….my kids lapp it up … LOL
they fail to see the Irony of the situation ….
the most interesting part of my day was when my Elder Import wants me to explain ….'Trend' ….I told him it is from the Section in Economics he Refused to Learn
namely Statistics …
and he is Ok with going over statistics and analysis and even analysing Trend Series and studying an industry from the Data pov to be able to analyse it ….

 Pune : 4500 new cases each day and a minimum of 50 deaths per day ... somebody had suggested one more lockdown which was Vetoed ... and The Ganapati Festival saw the Spike taking off ... if we speak against the Govt and Governance we get penalised in one way or the Other

will the Govt use The Raw to go after the IgNobel Prize givers ??? do they Dare to Do So ???

we in India can be Silenced

Take Off Stage and the State of High Mass Consumption ...

 Take Off : when used as Take Off Stage it is a stage mentioned with context to Developmental Economics ... best example of this stage is India 6 years ago ...even 5 years back the economy was poised on the Take Off Stage which can be understood with reference to a plane taking off ...Take Off Stage means a country poised on the brink of a march towards prosperity ...

and then we have America which used to be at a 'State of High Mass Consumption' ...now UK is there i guess ...but not all of USA or UK is into high mass consumption ....thanks to the slow down and Covid the game changed

earlier the use of electronics and white goods was high but now we all Repair more than before

that way Japan is the country to emulate.... once a country reaches a level of Prosperity ....boom is a phase no country can sustain but prosperity can be Maintained

Be it Bahrain or Japan or some European nations ...they maintain Prosperity despite the Odds

Reuse and Repair and Sustainability should be the way ahead

Simple Interest and Solar Energy ...like Germany being a country with maximum use of solar power vis a vis India which gets wayyyyyy more sunshine than Germany but uses 1/100th the amount of solar power ...

European nations should push for more Solar Power and Sustainable Goals and then Prosperity will be for Everyone ...IF some European nations have Free Education ...

why not all nations globally ...Free Education ???

here in India ...govt colleges fees are Extremely Affordable ...it could be made Free

Govt employed Profs in Germany are a Mentally Free Lot ... i met one such prof from Bremen University and was mighty Impressed ....

once there is Security for a job ...the Person Employed can do 10 times more and be extremely productive

to think that the blood line in Germany and Europe is soooo closely linked but policies are sooooo different

i hope the World Seriously Thinks about Copying Best Practices ...no???

just musings about death ...lol

 

thanks to asssssssssam i met death in various shapes and sizes ...sometimes on a daily basis ....sometimes it was a legless snake in the banana bunch in the dining room or an AK47 gun shoved into my face ... sometimes it was a machete that the cook brought into my kitchen and i ordered him to go keep it Outside my house ...

in pune it was near fatal accidents and...now i am bored of people with fever being Scared ...i am taking care of them but i am beyond fear and Death .... LOL

feels like exam time and i zzzzzzzing like nobody's business ....Everyone Yelling at me for zzzzzzzzing and me zzzzzzing peacefully with a thick blanket in peak summer in Pune ... no one knew i always listened with utmost concentration during lectures and i made notes everyday post class ...and i Never Ever Bunked class ...i liked economics, French and Philosophy-i loved

so never bunked and that was half the prep for exams ... LOL

and i kind of bank on my Character ...it's Flawed with the Right Dose of Krazy which is not much appreciated on the Netherside of Life ergo i am Still Alive
